40 Days for Life Spring 2011 Campaign (March 9th to April 17th)

February 12, 2011
A note regarding the Spring 40 Days for Life campaign from John Fleury:
Hi Everyone, and Welcome to those who are new,
Hope everyone is well, and staying warm !!
The 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign will be kicking off in 4 weeks.  This Springs Campaign is the largest on record, with 243 cities participating across the US and the World.
Here’s a quick list of the blessings that God has provided through seven previous coordinated 40 Days for Life campaigns:
* 400,000 have joined to pray and fast for an
end to abortion
* 13,000+ church congregations have participated
in 40 Days for Life campaigns
* Reports document 3,599 lives that have been spared
from abortion — and those are just the ones we
know about
* 43 abortion workers have quit their jobs and
walked away from the abortion industry
* Nine abortion facilities completely shut down
following local 40 Days for Life campaigns
* Women and men have been spared from the effects of
abortion, including a lifetime of regrets
* More than 1,200 news stories have been featured in
radio shows, newspapers, magazines and TV programs
* Many people with past abortion experiences have
begun post-abortion healing and recovery
* After 38 years of legalized abortion, people of
faith are experiencing a renewed sense of HOPE!

The Spring Campaign will run for 40 Days during LENT from Ash Weds. March 9th through Palm Sunday April 17th.  The prayer vigil schedule will be open for coverage Mon – Fri from 7am to 9pm, and on the weekends from 9am till 3pm.  The Vigil Scheduling Calendar is located on the website at 40daysforlife.com/haverhill.  Please let me know if you have any issues registering or signing up for certain hours.  If you prefer, just send me a note with the times you are able to cover, and I will update the schedule for you (1 hour intervals).  We want to fill all days of the week, but most importantly Tuesdays and Fridays.  The doctor is in the office on both of these days, so the more people we have on these two days the better.

Please help spread the word.  On the website, at the top right hand corner, their is a tab for FORMS.  If you click on this tab, you can download the Spring Flyer, The Bulletin Write Up, to post in your church bulletin, The Adopt a Day Form, and the Daily Devotional Prayers.  I would greatly appreciate everyone’s effort in printing and circulating flyers, and also having the write up put into you church bulletin during the campaign .  This year we are looking for each parish to commit to covering one day per week during the 5 weeks, so if you are able to sign up a group from your parish it would help fill the schedule much quicker.  Please send me a note if you can assist here, so that our efforts are not duplicated.  If you can coordinate having the flyer inserted into your church bulletin, let me know, and I should be able to provide you with the amount of copies needed.

If you need a yard sign or one for the Prayer Vigils, please let me know, and we’ll get one into your hands.
This year, and as in the past we continue to have support from the Franciscan Priests and Brothers (FPO) in Lawrence.  It would be great to see some new faces, and new priests at the vigils.  If you can invite a priest, please let me know the day and time he can attend, so we can communicate this to the group, as this is a great blessing.
I will keep you posted of additional events once they are finalized.

Prayer Vigil location is as follows:

MERRIMACK VALLEY WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICES
Abortion Clinic of Dr. Marcus Gordon
288 Groveland St., Haverhill, MA 01830
Prayer Vigil is on the street sidewalk.  Buffer zone is 35 feet, and is typically marked on the sidewalk with red paint.

Directions: Rt. 495 North to Exit 49 River St (Rt 110/113).  Turn right off of exit onto River St. (2.8 miles).  Turn slight right onto Water St. (.4 miles).  Turn slight left at Groveland St. (.9 miles).  End at 288 Groveland St.  Park on Pine St., which is the 1st left after the clinic.  Do not park on anyone’s property.  You may also park on any of the side streets in the area.

If you are unable to access any of the forms, or the daily devotionals on the website, please send me a note and I will send it to you separately.
Thank you in advance for your continued support.

May Our Lady and Our Lord Bless You,

John Fleury

URGENT! Act MONDAY to defund Planned Parenthood

February 12, 2011
From 40 Days for Life:

This is our moment to make a PROFOUND difference!

Are you sick and tired of Planned Parenthood getting
$363 MILLION of taxpayer funding a year -- while
aiding and abetting illegal underage sex trafficking?

Then let's take a public stand Monday to tell
Congress: "NO MORE TAX $ for Planned Parenthood!"

This Monday, February 14, 40 Days for Life is helping
to coordinate "Vigils for Victims" that will be held
outside Planned Parenthood offices coast-to-coast
from Noon to 1 PM in each U.S. Time Zone ...

... and YOU can make an impact in one hour!

Find out how at:

http://www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com/vigil

Here's what going on ...

For the last two weeks, the national media has been
abuzz with the shocking story of the undercover sting
operation that caught abortion giant Planned
Parenthood red-handed in the despicable act of aiding
and abetting sex trafficking and prostitution of
girls as young as 14.

Numerous undercover videos have now been released,
documenting Planned Parenthood workers at multiple
locations across several states assuring an
undercover investigator posing as a pimp that the
organization would secretly provide abortions and
other services to underage victims of human
trafficking, facilitating their exploitation.

Federal law is clear: "Sex trafficking of minors is a
federal crime and punishable by imprisonment for 10
years to life." (18 U.S. Code 1591) Additionally,
"any person who aids abets, or counsels a federal
crime to be committed may be punished as if they had
committed the crime themselves." (18 U.S. Code 2)

The institution-wide scandal has now reached the
highest levels at Planned Parenthood, with top
executives making the appalling claim that their
workers who were caught on video facilitating
underage sex slavery "responded professionally."

After receiving a record $363 MILLION in taxpayer
funds last year, Planned Parenthood's president
Cecile Richards then had the audacity to send out an
urgent appeal for abortion advocates to contact
Congress -- so the organization can rake in even MORE
of your hard-earned tax dollars!

And if that wasn't enough, now Planned Parenthood is
attempting to hijack Valentine's Day as a marketing
gimmick to expand its harmful agenda, shove condoms
into the hands of young children, and lure even more
vulnerable victims into its facilities.

           *** ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! ***

It is vital for us to act swiftly and take a public
stand against Planned Parenthood's harmful agenda --
raising awareness in the communities where we live,
and calling upon Congress to IMMEDIATELY strip the
abortion chain of all tax funding.

This Monday, February 14, you can help make that
happen by holding a one-hour "Vigil for Victims"
during the Noon hour in the public right-of-way
outside the Planned Parenthood office nearest to you.

This requires rapid action on all our parts, but will
show Planned Parenthood -- and the media -- the power
of pro-life America to bring about vital change!

No experience is required! Find out exactly what to
do by visiting:

http://www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com/vigil

Together, we really can make a difference! Let's act
quickly to make sure Planned Parenthood is held fully
accountable for its willingness to aid and abet
underage sex trafficking, and let's tell Congress
that the time has come to DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

For Life,

David Bereit
National Director
40 Days for Life

P.S.- I will personally be standing vigil outside the
Planned Parenthood at 1108 16th Street NW, in
Washington, DC from noon to 1 PM, and Shawn Carney
will be outside the Planned Parenthood at 201 N.
Hamilton Street in Richmond, VA. If you're nearby,
come join us -- or do the same where you live! Find
out more and learn how YOU can make a difference at:

Amazing!

January 25, 2011
From Sean Carney, 40 Days for Life:

What an amazing few days!

After speaking at a big pro-life event in Little
Rock, Arkansas, I joined hundreds of thousands of
people on the streets of Washington, DC for the March
for Life.

Before coming to the March for Life, our national
director, David Bereit, was with former Planned
Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson at the West
Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco,

The West Coast Walk for Life is a rapidly growing
event that attracted a record crowd this year.

Check out this amazing video of David and Abby firing
up the audience of 50,000 people:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdZBxrJ6fcw

The enthusiasm we saw in San Francisco and Washington
is now about to spill over in cities from coast to
coast -- and around the world ...

... Because the next 40 Days for Life campaign kicks
off in just six weeks!

THIS MORNING the EWTN television network is airing a
special about 40 Days for Life at 9 AM Eastern (8 AM
Central, 7 AM Mountain, 6 AM Pacific).

The program is called "Being Human," and it shows
what 40 Days for Life is all about -- and the impact
it can have in YOUR community!

EWTN is found on many cable and satellite TV systems,
so check your local listings for the channel, and
encourage everyone you know to watch or record it!

You can also watch online at http://www.ewtn.com
-- just click on "television" ... then on "Live TV."

We've also heard rave reviews from the national Focus
on the Family radio programs last week that featured
Abby Johnson and me talking about how why she left
her job at a Planned Parenthood abortion center and
joined the pro-life movement.

You can hear both of these programs online ...

Part 1: http://tinyurl.com/4lteu4a

Part 2: http://tinyurl.com/4sg6y8h

I've already heard from numerous people who've been
inspired by Abby's story to bring 40 Days for Life to
their communities for the first time -- just based on
what they heard on the radio!

If YOU feel led to LEAD a 40 Days for Life campaign
in your town, applications for the next campaign,
which runs from March 9 - April 17, are open for a
few more days. Fill out the application online at:

http://40daysforlife.com/apply

Applications will remain open ONLY until next Monday,
January 31. You can apply online or by mail.

With all the amazing energy we're seeing across
America and around the world, I think this is going
to be a great campaign ... and I can hardly wait to
get started!

For Life,

Shawn Carney
Campaign Director

Impressions from the March

January 25, 2011
logo

The people from Massachusetts had some pretty universal impressions.

1)  Most people felt the March was bigger than last year, which had more than 300,000 people.

2)  Among all the impressive things, the new Congressmen and Senators stood out.  Instead of whispering behind their hands that they are with us, they were crowding onto the stage at the beginning of the March to proclaim that they are with us!

3)  Everyone is focused on repealing Obamacare and outlawing all government funding of abortion.

4)  Added to the ever-increasing gigantic numbers of young people were a huge number of people of color.

5)  Even people not attending the March, just driving by on the side streets, eating in the House and Senate cafeterias, or in offices, were visibly supportive.  I met a pro-life military officer from Austria in the cafeteria and I saw taxi drivers waving at people headed to the March.

There were many other excellent events planned around the March.  I’ll be sharing some of those with you.  As the busses arrive back, we’ll have more to share.

We have so much to do but we are really moving!  Thanks, Anne

MA on the March!

January 24, 2011
logo

About 400 people from Massachusetts just left our caucus to join another 2500 at the March.

We were so fortunate to hear Professor Dwight Duncan, Thea Rossi Barron, Robert Alt fron the Heritage Foundation, and Professor Michael New discuss the implications of Roe v Wade, what will probably happen to Obamcare in the courts, what it was like to lobby with Dr Jefferson, and what the pro-life Movement accomplished in 2010.

After the caucus, constituents delivered Repeal Obamcare petitions to their Congressmen and our Senators.

Every time an elevator door opened, people in MCFL blue caps poured out.

As we approach our MA meeting place, the sea of blue caps gets thicker.  I believe there will be 400,000 people at this March. The weather is cold but not anywhere near as cold as home.

I sure you join me in commending all these wonderful people!    Anne
